I.Volunteering Team

From September 13 to October 12, 2023, our first team of 45 volunteers from Portugal, Morocco, Georgia, North Macedonia, and Türkiye came together in Muş, Türkiye, for a transformative month of action and collaboration.

 

Highlights of Their Journey:

  • Community Engagement: Weekly visits to families, hospitals, and local organizations.
  • Learning & Growth: Daily preparation sessions, Turkish language classes, and end-of-day reflections to enhance skills and foster cultural exchange.
  • Oncology Days Preparation: Active involvement in planning for the 10th International Oncology Days through working groups.

This team’s dedication not only strengthened local ties but also empowered them as change-makers, leaving a lasting impact on the community and themselves.

II.Volunteering Team

From September 30 to October 29, 2023, the second team of 45 volunteers, including participants from Portugal (4), Morocco (8), and Türkiye (32), came together in Muş to continue building on the work of the first group, leaving a significant mark on the local community.

Key Activities:

  • Community Engagement: Weekly visits to families, hospitals, and local organizations.
  • Awareness Efforts: Follow-up activities for the 10th International Oncology Days, including awareness-raising sessions in high schools (twice weekly).
  • Skill Development: Turkish language classes and structured daily preparation sessions.
  • Collaboration: Working group meetings three times a week to support ongoing oncology initiatives.
  • Reflection & Growth: Daily reflection sessions and weekly reviews to ensure continuous improvement.

This group’s dedication to creating awareness and fostering cross-cultural connections further strengthened the project’s impact, demonstrating the power of unity and shared purpose.

10th International Oncology Days

The 10th International Oncology Days, held from October 4 to October 9, 2023, in Muş, Türkiye, brought together cancer patients, healthcare professionals, youth leaders, NGOs, and international representatives to raise awareness and foster collaboration in the fight against cancer.

Event Highlights:

  • Cancer Patients Congress: Patients and families from 81 provinces shared challenges and explored solutions.
  • Youth Engagement: Youth leaders and NGO representatives learned about health rights and cancer prevention.
  • Network Launch: Official launch of the Cancer Education Network for Young People to promote ongoing collaboration.
  • Global Exchange: Sharing best practices and building partnerships between Türkiye and Europe.

With over 300 participants and 100 daily visitors, this milestone event strengthened solidarity, knowledge sharing, and innovation in cancer care.
